The ordinary general assembly of BIEN-CH took place:

Saturday June 13th 2015 10h to 13h

CSP Fraternité room, Place Arlaud 2, 1003 Lausanne
(near Place de la Riponne)

It was followed in the afternoon with a presentation session and animation proposed by Generation-RBI, romand action group for the "Federal initiative for a basic income" and member of BIEN-CH. This includes the program of a competitive teams, with a set of questions and answers about the UBI and a workroom to create a range of beggars robots (which also eventually will be replaced one day by robots ...). Several other game ideas around the UBI are under study and each are invited to offer other ideas. :)

A Canadian buffet was served between two: sandwiches, delicious salads and other home made dishes, the whole accompanied with soft drinks, were shared on the terrasse

For our basic income friends, it was a great opportunity to meet. There were forty of us awaiting!

Draw me a constitution for the 21st century

FOR UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME

COLLECTIVE PROPOSAL ADDRESSED TO THE VALAIS CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY

The inhabitants of the canton of Valais, the undersigned, ask the Constituent Assembly to include in the future constitution of the canton the following articles:

  1. Every inhabitant of Valais has the right to the indispensable means that allow him to lead a dignified life and participate in public life.
  2. The State ensures the realization of this right through the introduction of an unconditional basic income.

Social protection in force has become inadequate

  • forms of precarious work have emerged, conditions and social contributions are no longer guaranteed
  • the aging of the population and the decrease in years of work threaten the AVS and the 2nd pillar
  • a new class of working poor (precariat) knows the insecurity and passes through the meshes of the social net
  • privacy controls are humiliating for claimants of social benefits
  • with its multiple revisions, the social system has become both overcrowded and insufficient

Universal Basic Income is paid

  • to the entire population regularly established, with an amount sufficient to allow a dignified life
  • to individuals and not to households
  • without taking into account any other element of income or fortune
  • without any obligation to accept a job or to have to justify his incapacity to work
  • without any obligation to provide counterpart

The introduction of the basic income

  • will be done pragmatically, either by a general measure, or gradually, in addition to existing federal social insurance, or by other reforms

The 46th edition of the World Economic Forum ended on January 23rd. The danger that represents the 4th industrial revolution for employment was at the heart of the debates. MIT economist Erik Brynjolfsson underlined that "we're heading towards a future with incredible amounts of wealth and little work" . His university just published a report stating that 47% of all jobs in the US could be automated within 20 years. Another study by the WEF shows that artificial intelligence will destroy 7.1 million jobs in the next five years in the 15 main world economies and will only create 2 million new jobs. [+]
